when reality sets in

"I can't do distance," he says from 4500 miles away
and the air from my lungs seeps into the hardwood floor beneath my feet.
I am crashing, as the hurdling sheet of metal collides with the concrete
I beg him not to do this, convince myself it can be fixed
say anything that could possibly repair the broken words
that slipped through his lips
the  levee breaks, and I am grasping at any hope that may be left
"I still love you," he tells me while he tells me that he can't
It's too late,we already committed
there were plans for us,
plans that one cannot simply forget
while the sky in falling
I want only to hold your hand as I meet my demise
I look you in the eyes and know were finished
that this is it,
I am no longer yours
and you are not longer mine.
